Let's have a sit-and-chat.

Well, it’s been 11 months and 15 days or so since we started Tilted Chair Creative. While we could write a book about our experiences, we would really like to chat about what we’ve been up to most recently.

(Quick back story for anyone receiving this wondering “who the heck is Tilted Chair?”: we’re four 2009 UT grads that decided to start an ad agency right out of school. We’re still doing it almost a year later.)

First and foremost, check the business section of the Austin American Statesmen for TODAY (3/2). We have an article about us in the business section! Or check it out at the AAS website here:

We won 3 ADDYs this year at the Austin ADDY Awards for our work in the first 9 months of our company’s existence. Winning our first awards as a company was truly special for us. We started this company because we believed in our ideas, we believed we could help companies grow, and we believed in ourselves. To be validated for our work by industry giants confirmed we made the right decision out of school.

So what work won?

Well, we won for the work we did for Southside Market and Barbeque. All of it. Signage inside and outside the restaurant, billboards, and radio all won in two mixed media entries. Southside Market and Barbeque is home to the best barbeque in the world, and the best people as well. From the owner to the employees, we always leave feeling warm and appreciated and we know that we really have an amazing client.

Also, we won for our own website—an ADDY in the self promotion category. That one felt pretty good. We see so many great companies who do great work for clients, but have put their own website and promotional materials on the back burner. We have a passion and pride in everything we do and that includes how we present ourselves to the rest of the world.

We saw one our favorite UT professors at the ADDYs, Dr. Murphy, and had a great chat with him. He actually came to our office to sit down and speak with us the following week and asked us to help judge one of his upcoming projects. We happily obliged. More on that as April approaches.

We’re taking on new projects and have two larger projects we are currently working on and are excited to launch late this month/early April. And of course, we're continuing to work on Southside Market & Barbeque! We had a photoshoot for their online store last week. It was a delicious, delicious photoshoot... Here a sneak peak:

Hungry yet? You can now order & ship to anywhere in the US! Wahoo!

In other news, we took one of our clients up on an offer to take an intro fencing class on Monday. Stabbing each other with swords was an awesome stress reliever to start the week.

That’s it for now! We’ll keep you updated with more sit-and-chats in the future.

All our best,
The Tilted Chair Team.

Congratulations and best of luck. I was just leafing through the 2011 Addy's book and stumbled upon your agency and website (Great Madmen Photo by the way.)

Excited to see such young creatives making their own mark in Austin. I'll definitely be keeping my eye on the Chair.

All the best from San Antonio.
